Prosthodontics is one of the nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association.Its graduate programsconsist ofclassroom lectures and seminars, laboratory and clinical training in esthetics/cosmetics, crowns, bridges, veneers, inlays, complete and removable partial dentures, dental implants, TMD-jaw joint problems, traumatic injuries to the mouth’s structures, congenital or birth anomalies to teeth. A prosthodontist is dedicated toprovidinghighest standards of care in the restoration and replacement of teeth. Description ofPostgraduate Program
Thepostgraduateprogram prepares studentsfor theprofessionalclinical practice of prosthodontics and provides the basis for continuing professional development afterthecompletion of the program. There is an emphasis on complex reconstructive and aesthetic treatment using fixed, removable and implant prostheses. The program consists of core academic courses, specialist training in prosthodontics and a research thesis. The prosthodontics program is approved by the School of Stomatology, Shandong University.
The program focuses on the advanced study of the restoration and maintenance of teeth, oral function, andbeautythrough the use of single or compound materials, structures, and artificial devices.It includes instruction in implant dentistry, surgical procedures, denture design and fabrication, fixed and removable prosthodontics, restorative techniques, occlusion therapy and devices, geriatric dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and tempromandibular joint dysfunction.

JingLan,D.M.D,Professor,is thedeputy director of theInstituteofProsthodonticsin the School ofStomatology, ShandongUniversity.In 2005, she graduatedand gainedherdoctor's degreefrom theSchool ofStomatology,WuhanUniversity.In the same year, sheenteredthe School ofStomatology, ShandongUniversityand have worked there until now. Shehas beenengaged inclinical, teaching and research workduring these years.In 2011,as a postdoc, she visited and studiedin theSchool ofDentistry,University of California, San Francisco.
Now, she is amember ofOral ProsthodonticsCommittee of the ChineseStomatologicalAssociation andShandongStomatologicalAssociation.Inherwork,shepaysattention to the combination of clinicalworkand scientific research.Her research field focuses onthe vaccine against peri-implantiti, andthe regulatory mechanismduring the process of implant osseointegration.Up till now, shehaspresidedseveral projects, includingone youth program and one general program of theNationalNaturalScienceFoundation of China, fiveprograms from NaturalScience Foundationof Shandong Province,and three programs from Shandong University. She achieved onenational invention patent,and published at least 10SCI articles.In 2018, she won the second prize of Scientific and Technological Progress Award of Shandong Province (as the second leader)

A. Personal Statement
Dr. Wu’s research focuses on proposing effective strategies to overcome the shortcomings of the existing dental materialstoimprove the oral healthy and quality of life. He has been devotinghimself to operatea series of studies on the development of new dental polymer materials including nanocomposites and adhesives for tooth restorations. These materials possess bioactive and therapeutic properties, with triple benefits of self-healing ability, antibacterial property and remineralization capabilityto heal crack and inhibit caries. His multidisciplinary team uses state-of-the-art processing/synthesis facilities, innovative materials engineering methods, and comprehensive measuring techniques to investigate physical and biological properties, antibacterial properties, biofilm growth and acid production etc. As a result, he has authored a lot ofvaluable andoriginal full-length articles in leading journals.
Apart from these research work andtechniques,he is also proficient in the operations ofdentalclinicalpracticeincludingcrowns, veneers,inlays,FPDs, RPDs, complete dentures,implant denturesand so on.

Working experience:
Currently, Dr. Lan is the director of theDepartment of Oral Implantation and is qualified for recruiting and supervising master students. She started her first jobin Shandong University in 1993. Since then, she has been engaged in oral implants and prosthetics related education, clinical work, and academic research for 25 years. During this period, she has accumulated comprehensive knowledge and rich work experience in teaching, clinical treatment, and scientific research. From 1998 to 1999, she continued her studyat the Stomatological Hospital of Beijing Medical University. Her continuous pursuit for excellence in oral implantology haswonherrich theoretical competence and practicalexperience. Also, sheparticipated activelyin many international and domestic oral implantation conferences and training.
Clinicalexpertise:
Proficiency in all kinds of implant restoration techniques. Her expertise is to combine traditional prosthetics techniques with oral implantation restoration techniques. She is capableofprovidingtreatment plans for patients comprehensively and systematically,and isespecially good at aesthetic implantation, precise and minimally invasive digital navigation implantation, implant restoration for multiple tooth loss and edentulous patients. Her great expertisein restoring their oral functionhas benefited tens of thousands of patients.
Academic work
As first or corresponding author, Dr. Lan has published 4 papers in SCI-indexed journals and more than 20 papers in domestic core academic journals. Sheis the chief-editor of2 books. She has hosted and participated in 4 national research projects, 5 provincial and ministerial research projects, and 2 researchdepartmentalprojects. Besides, she has produced a video course of oral implantation for the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China. Moreover, she is a tutorial teacher for the online course of the National Practitioner/Assistant Physician Qualification Examination.
