The Institute of Oral Basic Research was established in May2014and has beenundertakingthe training task of master's degree and doctor's degreestudentsin oral basic medicine.After 5 years of construction and development, the Institute of Oral Basic Research has gradually formed a clear guiding ideology and ideas for discipline construction, integrating a professional system of teaching and scientific research. It hasformeda multi-disciplinary and multi-level application-oriented talent training mode.We always adhere to education-oriented modeandfocus on ability trainingand the quality of talent training, aiming tocultivate high-level talentsto meet the needs of clinical and scientific development of stomatology in China.The Institute of Oral Basic Research has 21 faculty members, 20of whomwith a master's degree or above. There are 4 doctoralsupervisorsand 4 mastersupervisors.After 5 years of construction and development, aproperly structuredteaching team with ahighlevel of academic qualifications has been established. And we have alsoestablished five basic oral courses, including oral anatomy and physiology, tooth dissection and occlusion physiology, oral histopathology, occlusion and bone biologyfor postgraduate and undergraduate students.

Qiang Feng, PhD, is the professor at the School of Stomatology, Shandong University. He obtained his PhD degree in the University of Copenhagen on the subject of human microbiome and Metagenomics. His scientific interests include human commensal microbiome and complex diseases. He and his team developed and verified a series of analytical pipelines, which have been applied in studying the association between gut microbiota and human diseases, especially metabolic syndromes. By now, Feng has published more than 40 SCI papers on top scientific journals, includingNatureBiotechnology(3 papers),Nature Medicine(2 papers), et al.

Li, Jianhua
Jianhua Li is a Qilu Young Scholar Professor in the Department of Biomaterials, School of Stomatology of Shandong University. His research interests include the development of novel biomaterials for exploration of their applications in drug delivery,nanomedicine, and tissue engineering. He received a B.S. degree of material physics in 2010 and Ph.D. degree of material chemistry and physics from Shandong University in 2016. During the doctoral program, he worked as joint-PhD student at Chinese Academy of Science (2013-2014) and Georgia Institute of Technology (2014-2016, Prof. Younan Xia’s group). He then continued his training as a postdoc fellow at the University of Melbourne with Prof. Frank Caruso (2017-2018) and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology with Prof. Benzhong Tang (2018-2019). Dr. Li joined Shandong University and started his own lab in 2019 working on biomaterials. He has co-authored more than 25 publications in peer-reviewed journals including Adv.Mater., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Healthcare Mater., Nanoscale, etc.
Li, Minqi
Minqi Li was born in 1970. He is a professor of Shandong University, a doctoral supervisor, a Qilu young scholar and a special appointment professor at the National Hokkaido University in Japan. And he is also a current member of the Academic Committee of Qilu Medical College of Shandong University, a deputy director of the Academic Committee of the School of Stomatology, a member of the Disciplinary Review Group, a member of the Teaching Steering Committee, the director of the Institute of Oral Basic Medicine and the Director of the Department of Bone Metabolism. And he is the Pioneer Investigator (PI) of the Research Direction of Hard Tissue and Related Disease Mechanisms in the Key Laboratory of Oral Tissue Regeneration in Shandong Province. He is also a committee member of the Oral Pathology Professional Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Association, a member of the Oral Biomedical Professional Committee, a member of council of the Shandong Provincial Stomatological Association and a deputy director of the Oral Biomedical Professional Committee of the Shandong Provincial Stomatological Association. At the same time, he is a member of the International Editorial Board of J Oral Biosci., the official journal of the Japan Society of Oral Biomedical Sciences. As a“High-Level Talent Urgently Needed”, he has been approved to introduce to High-Level and High-Skilled Personnel Service Green Cards in Shandong Province.
Professor Li Minqi has been engaged in basic research in stomatology and bone metabolism for a long time and has published 143 related academic papers, including 104 papers in SCI, 39 monographs and papers in Japanese. After getting his Ph.D. degree in 2004, he was responsible for four programs of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) as the program leader. Since returning to work in full-time in 2012, he has chaired 3 programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) as a program leader, 2 National Natural Science Foundation International (Regional) Cooperation and Exchange (NSFC-JSPS) programs, 1 Department of Education Doctoral Fund (Boarding), 1 Key Research and Development Plan of Shandong Province (public welfare science and technology research) and 1 Shandong Qilu Young Scholars Program Startup Fund. The total program fund amounts to 4.8 million yuan.

Wu,Xunwei
Dr. Xunwei Wu graduated from Fudan University for his Ph.D. and did his postdoctoral training in Max-Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Germany and Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. in 2013 he joined Dr. David Fisher’s group at Harvard Medical School as an instructor. In 2015, he accepted a principal investigator position in Shandong University. Dr. Wu has done research in skin field for more than 15 years, and has published more than 40 papers, including publication in high impact factor journals such asGenes & DevelopmentandNature.
The current research of Dr. Wu’s laboratory mainly focuses on two areas: (1) The function of culture-expanded stem cells in skin and hair regeneration; (2) The role of dermal fibroblast in the development of skin cancers such as SCC and melanoma.
Currently, Dr. Wu is a core member of Chinese Society of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (CTERM), and the vice chairman of Shandong Society of Regenerative Medicine.
